Dreams and Loves

Happy February, everyone!

It's the shortest month of the year and also the most loving one, too.  Thoughts of hearts are swirling in my head.  Look at this rock!  Do you see what I see?  There is definitely a heart there.  It made me smile, and I just had to take a photograph of it.  I love finding symbols in nature.
I included this heart in my Dream Board that I created for Lifebook.  I don't mind sharing it with you, as it projects my hopes and dreams for the year to come.  I infused it with a lot of love and aspirations.   I've included both my personal and professional dreams for the year.  I am striving to improve my art and would love to try and submit some work for publication (which is why I included a Somerset Studio cover here featuring Kelly Rae Roberts - who I adore).  It's a scary thought for me, but I definitely want to try.  Health is another big goal for me, as I want to improve it for me so I have the energy to thrive and live.  I've included doors and keys in the hopes of opening up new opportunities for myself - both personally and professionally. There is also a little etsy symbol here, as I continue to dream up new designs and artwork for the shop.  I haven't had much time to update my blog, as I've been taking tons of new photographs of the items in my shop.  It has turned into a bigger project than I expected!  But I am rather pleased with the "new and improved" photos. Believe it or not, I have still a few more to go!  Plus, I have some new art pendant necklaces to upload...lots of happy work!

Lately my heart has been a bit sad, as thoughts of Borders have filtered into my mind lately. It has been five months since the store closed. I still have my rewards card on my key chain...I just can't seem to part with it. And when I was searching for some photos on the computer, I came across the photos I took of the store when it was closing. It just about broke my heart. I created this treasury today as a love letter to books. I shall never own a Kindle or Nook - I LOVE holding an actual book in my hands...I love the feel of the paper, the smell of the paper, and just everything else about a "real" book. The heart loves what it loves.

Here's a more traditional tribute to love...the heart! This collection is pretty and red and happy. It made me smile while I was creating it - but it also gave me a big craving for chocolate!

Hope you all have a wonderful week. If you missed it, Punxsutawney Phil predicted another six weeks of winter! Hope you don't have a day like Bill Murray did here. But you know - he DID get it right - and in the end, that's what matters most!

Til next time,
Theresa

Beautiful life board Theresa! Seems like you have a handle on where you hope your dreams take you!

I agree 100% that there is nothing that compares to reading a physical book. I love the weight, turning the pages, everything!

I saw both of your awesome treasuries--you sure have the knack for putting them together.

I love your board!!

I think we are going to have an early spring here. Our temperatures have been insane...50's 60's, it's weird! Usually by now we are inundated with snow!

Love,

Girl, I just connected so much with you on this post. I can tell ho heartbroken you are to have lost the job you loved at Borders. Books are very special to me, and I intend to do a "book love" post myself eventually involving my librarian grandmother whom I recently lost. I work at a library now too and I'm glad she got to be here long enough to see the pride I had when I got a job working with books like she had for most of her life.

I think it might be a good idea to look into a job at your local library if you haven't already. You would love it, I'm sure! Even though I'm just a shelver now, I enjoy spending time with books for hours on end. And when I help out at the desk, checking in and out materials and issuing library cards are things I find to be truly rewarding.

Regarding the eReaders, I have a Nook and I rarely use it. I check out books from the library instead. ;-)

Dear Theresa, I encourge you to be brave and sumbit your work to some publications. I know it is scarry (very scarry) but I can tell you we are all scared. You have to close your eyes and jump in beuase you and your art rocks xox Clarice

I love the heart in the tree, would you believe I have a Black Walnut tree right outside of my kitchen window with a heart in it?!

I'm sorry you're feeling down about Borders. You have wonderful memories and you wouldn't ever want to forget them.. sometimes memories are bitter-sweet.

I love the feel of a real book, too. But never say never! ;)

Fun to ponder this month through your thoughts and images. It is my birthday month too... fun. my father celebrated his birthday for a month, one day is simply too short. I like to honor that as tradition, but then again, every day is good for celebrating life.

I am sorry for your sadness over Borders closing. I understand. Wishing you a light heart. thank you for sharing your beautiful arts. wishing you dreams come true!

Such an inspiring post. You know, I haven't made my dream board yet and maybe I need to do that. Yours certainly inspires me! And your treasuries are beautiful - I especially love the book-related one! Hope you are doing well!! Love, Silke

I know that keeping the etsy shop is so time consuming. We love to make the art; it is the posting - pictures and writeups - cutting and pasting, that can make us procrastinate at times. Well, me, at least. I also love your angels or little earth dieties; similiar to Kelly's. Your's have a more "Earth bound," kind of "hippie" (if you take that as a compliment) or maybe "flower child" aura that her's do not. I think that publication of your set of these dieties is unquestionable. But, I don't know if these are what you hope to publish. I do so enjoy mine. I have a Nook. Tom and I made up our mind not to keep using paper for books. Plus, keeping books in our house was impossible. They would get moldy within a few years (no airconditioning). And, I have a "germ a phob" thing about library books, even though my sister is a librarian. Anyway, your bookmarks would be lovely as wallpaper on my Nook. But you wouldn't sellout.. I will check out your Etsy store; beautiful jewelry, especially the heart necklace. Peace. Brianne

Thank You for Stopping By!
